As the first day of fall fell on the Connecticut River Valley, summer-like conditions prevailed for the annual RVTC Cardboard Boat Race. And it's a good thing because many students found themselves in the pond as their boats took on water and sunk. The 10th annual event was amped up with at the AVP program sporting the portable sound system to create a fun atmosphere. With the music cranking, teams headed off to the banks of the pond to embark on a race of speed and survival. The morning session winners were the Audio Video Production Program with the "Rice Pilaf" Boat. They beat the "X Mark" Boat from the Horticulture and Natural Resources Program. The Afternoon Session winners were the Criminal Justice Program's "Doughnut Destroyer II" Boat. They beat the "Fishy Business" Boat from the Business and Financial Services Program. This was a rematch of the Heat 5 qualifier, and one of the best races in the history of the Cardboard Boat Races at RVTC. The Titanic Awards went to the "Thing - A - Majig" Boat from Human Services Program and the "All Hands On Deck" Boat from the Information Technologies Program for the most dramatic sinking.
