Criminal Justice Students Visit VT Supreme Court
RVTC Criminal Justice students attended the Vermont Supreme Court “On the Road” at the Woodstock Union High School. The students had the opportunity to hear oral arguments on three actual cases argued before the court. This unique event helped students understand Vermont’s judicial system by providing the RVTC Criminal Justice students with the opportunity to observe the state’s highest court up close. They also had the opportunity to interact with the Supreme Court Justices in a question and answer session with the Justices. The existing rules of etiquette for the public were explained to the students and each had to go through a routine security screening conducted by Windsor County Deputy Sheriffs before entering. After the court session, the students met and spoke with Windsor County Sheriff Michael Chamberlain.
